Conference Excursion

The APPF 2024 provides a full day excursion which is scheduled on April 18, 2024. Participants requesting to attend the excursion should register and pay for the excursion in the Registration Form. If the number of participants in the excursion is less than 20, the excursion may be cancelled. In the event of cancellation, the excursion fee will be refunded.

Upopoi (Ainu Museum) / Showa-shinzan (volcano) / Lake Toya
Fee: 13,000 Yen (including lunch and admission fee).

The tour will depart from the University at 8:30 am and head to the National Ainu Museum and Park in Shiraoi City. The museum opened on April 2020. You can learn rich culture of the Ainu people in the Museum. The lunch will be served after visiting the museum. The tour will visit Showa-shinzan, a volcanic lava dome in the Shikotsu-Toya National Park – the area also known as Toya Caldera and Usu Vocano Global Geopark. The area is also famous for breathtakingly beautiful natural sceneries. The mountain was created during 1943–45 and is still active. After visiting the mountain, the tour will take you to the picturesque lake, Lake Toya. You may be able to collect water samples from the lake. After leaving the lake, the tour will head to the University and expect to arrive at 7:00 pm-ish.
